To read about an event

When you first enter the site you will see the events for the current day. At the top of the screen after the description of "What's On" is an index. To view more information about a particular event in the index, click on it. This will display the start time and venue, you can then click on more information to view contact details, cost etc...

To view the events for a certain date, click on that date in the calendar on the right of the screen, or alternatively enter the specific date in the 'Show Date' field.

To view specific events such as conferences or events for students or staff, you can do a key word search in the 'Search Events...' field.

To enter an event

Click on "Add an Event" under "Update What's On" in the left hand sidebar, you will be presented with a range of fields to enter information about your event such as the title, time, venue etc...Fill in each field unless they are optional and marked with an asterisk.

You will be asked to enter 4 search words for each event you list. This will help others find your event. All words in the title of your event are already search words. Think of words outside the title such as student, staff, free, lunchtime, Bundoora, alumni, etc...

You will be asked to enter an ID. This can be any mix of letters or numbers up to 10 characters. Don't forget your ID as this allows you to come back and edit your event if the details about it change. The ID you choose also ensures that no one but you and the Today@RMIT Editor can edit your event.

You are required to fill in your name, contact phone number, e-mail and a URL for the event (if there is one). These will be displayed with your event. If you are not the contact person for the event, submit the details of the person who is. If you do not have an e-mail address, or do not wish your details to be viewed, contact the What's On Editor to discuss your event.

Press submit. If you have left any of the compulsory fields vacant you will be prompted to go back and fill them in and to keep submitting your event until all compulsory fields are complete.

Once finished, your event is submitted to the Today@RMIT Editor who will then approve your event and list it on the Today@RMIT web site. The Today@RMIT Editor will contact you if there are any problems with your listing.

You will be sent a confirmation e-mail within 24 hours as soon as your event is approved for listing.
